Q: Is lunch provided for day camp? |
A: No. Your camper should bring a lunch with them each day |
Q: Can parents stay and watch training sessions? |
A: Absolutely, parents are always welcome to watch! |
Q: Will goalkeeper training be offered at Nelson Girls Soccer Camp at SMU? |
A: Yes! The Full Day, Residential, and College ID camps will all have training sessions specifically designed to develop goalkeepers. Please visit the camp you are interested in for further details. |
Q: Are parents allowed to visit campers in the dorms? |
A: Parents are welcome to visit campers in the lobby of the dorms during down times. Parents will have access to dorm rooms for move in and move out (and of course emergency/illness situations). Campus rules allow for only staff and campers to be on the floors of the dorms. This ensures the safety of the campers. |
Q: If I come with a group/friend, will we be on the same team? |
A: We do everything we can to make sure friends play together. For day camps, 2hen splitting campers into groups at the start of camp, the coaches will ask friends to sit together. We will then make sure to place them on the same team. We want the campers to have the best possible experience and we realize that typically means playing with friends! For residential camp, we will use the information you've provided to us (your teams, schools, etc) to guide us in assigning teams. We do our very best to make sure friends and teamates are together. |
Q: If I request a roommate, will we be placed in the same dorm room? |
A: We will make our best effort to honor roommate requests, but cannot guarantee a match. Please note that only 2 campers are allowed to stay in a room due to fire code restrictions. |
Q: Can I check-in late? |
A: Yes, but please communicate with Paula Woodbury at 945-230-4030 or [email protected] to coordinate your check in time. |
Q: Will I need to bring additional money? |
A: For half and full day camps, meals are not included. We have a "camp store" that provides snacks, sweet treats, beverages, and gear so we suggest sending your camper with a few extra dollars for this. For residential camps, all formal meals are included in the overnight camp fee, however, many campers like to purchase pizza or other snacks after the evening session. Also, some campers may want to take advantage of discounts offered on the latest soccer gear available at our camp store. Please ensure campers are provided for appropriately. |
Q: Is there supervision in residence halls? |
A: Yes! The campers The campers are in a key-card access dorm and have 24-hour supervision. There are coaches on each floor and an athletic trainer always on call in case of emergency. The university also has hall managers at the front desk and campus police are always on call. |
Q: Is there an airport shuttle? |
A: Nelson Girls Soccer Camp at SMU does not provide transportation. For those campers who will be arriving by airplane, Dallas offers two airports: Love Field and DFW International. Standard taxi fare from these two airports is $25-$50, respectively. The Nelson Girls Soccer Camp at SMU recommends flying into Love Field as it is located near the SMU campus. |
Q: Is there a camp discount offered to children of SMU faculty/staff or SMU Women's Soccer alumni? |
A: Yes, children of full-time SMU faculty/staff and SMU Women's Soccer Alumni are eligible for a camp discount. To receive the discount, contact Paula Woodbury at [email protected] or 945-230-4030. Half day Camps: $10 off of camp registration fee Residential Camps: $25 off of camp registration fee |
Q: Is there a camp discount offered to teams who register multiple children? |
A: Yes. For our Day Camps, there is $25/camper discount for teams who register 8+ campers. For our Residential Camps, there is a $50/ camper discount for teams who register 8+ campers. Please contact Paula Woodbury at [email protected] or 945-230-4030 to coordinate registration and discount. |
Q: What is your Refund Policy? |
A: Our refund policy is as follows: A non-refundable registration fee of $75 will apply with all refunds. No refunds will be made less than three weeks (21 days) prior to, during or after a camp. |
